FAT GRAFTING

FAT GRAFTING

FAT GRAFTING

Since the 1990s, fat grafts have been successfully used to improve and enhance the cosmetic appearance of the body. Fat grafting, also known as autologous fat transfer or fat injection, is a surgical process by which fat (own fat) is transferred from one area of the body to another area.
The process involves extracting the fat from the body (a process called fat harvesting), processing it to produce viable fat cells, and reinjecting it into the desired place of the body, usually face, to enhance its feature and contour.

Another benefit of fat harvesting is that since adipose tissues contain a high concentration of stem cells which have great regenerative properties, the fat harvested can be used for skin rejuvenation and other degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis.

Not suitable:

• Fat grafting is a process which uses one’s own fat and is therefore suitable for all

Anaesthesia:

• It is usually performed under local anaesthetics as the amount of fat harvested is small

Procedure time:

• The whole process of harvesting, processing, reinjecting can take up to a few hours

Downtime:

• There might be initial swelling at places of fat injection which would settle in a few days. Since it’s a minimally invasive procedure, there might be post procedural pain or discomfort and infection

Effect lasting:

• Typically lasts longer than conventional dermal filler injection when used for facial enhancement
